Mini Tag
This
tutorial was created and put on this site on July 28, 2004. For this
tutorial you will need: If you would like to use different images I suggest visiting Tubes by JCW Designs - she has great floral and butterfly tubes!
Open a new image: Flood fill the first layer with a dark color from your flower tube, I am using #63471F. Rename this layer background. Add a new raster layer and name it gradient. Set your colors to: Set your foreground fill
style to gradient with these settings: Selections > Select all. Selections > Modify > Contract > 1 > ok. Fill this selection with the gradient. Selections > Select none. Bring up the flower image. Image > Resize > height 50, ratio & all layers checked, either use Smart size or Bicubic. Edit > Copy. Activate your tag image. Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer. Select your deformation tool. Hold down the Ctrl key and using your arrow keys position the flower. This is where I put mine: Go back to your flower image. Edit > Undo. Image > Resize > height 35, ratio & all layers checked, either use Smart size or Bicubic. Edit > Copy. Activate your tag image. Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer. Select your deformation tool. Hold down the Ctrl key and using your arrow keys position the flower. This is where I put my
second flower: In your layer palette, turn
off your background and gradient layers. Right click on either of the flower layers and Merge > Merge visible. Rename this layer flowers. Right click on the flowers layer and duplicate. Activate the flowers layer again. Selections > Select all. Selections > Modify > Contract > 1 > ok. Effects > Plugins >
Eye Candy 4000 > Motion Trail > these settings: Selections > Invert. You may want to zoom in for this step. Activate the eraser tool
and set at: Just erase down the right side. I have shown where with the green line.
Selections > Select none. Turn your gradient and background layers back on. On your flowers layer change the blend mode to something you like - try soft light, overlay or the one I will be using, Color (L). Add a new raster layer and add your text. I used the same color for my text as the background color.
If you would like to add a drop shadow to your text now would be a good time to do it. Turn off the copy of flowers layer. Right click on any of the other layers and Merge > Merge visible. Rename this layer background. Activate your top layer. Bring up the butterfly image. Image > Resize > height 25, ratio & all layers checked, either use Smart size or Bicubic. Edit > Copy. Activate your tag image. Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer, rename this layer butterfly. Use your mover tool to position your butterfly.
You can stop here and have
a static tag, just merge your layers and save, Duplicate each of your layers so that you have three of each.
Activate the copy of flowers layer. Effects > Plugins >
VM Natural > Sparkle > these settings: Activate copy (2) of flowers. Effects > Plugins > VM Natural > Sparkle > same settings, except change the random seed to 175. Activate copy (3) of flowers. Effects > Plugins > VM Natural > Sparkle > same settings, except change the random seed to 200. Layers > View > None. Turn on one butterfly layer, one flower layer and one background layer. Right click on any of the turned on layers and Merge > Merge visible. Turn this layer back off. You should now have 2 butterfly, 2 flower, two background and one merged layers. Turn on one butterfly layer, one flower layer and one background layer. Right click on any of the turned on layers and Merge > Merge visible. Turn this layer back off. You should now have one each of the butterfly, flower and background layers and two merged layers. Turn back on the last butterfly, flower and background layers. Right click on any of the turned on layers and Merge > Merge visible. Turn back on the other two merged layers. File > Jasc Products > Launch Animation Shop. In PSP, Activate the top layer. Edit > Copy. In Animation Shop (AS), Edit > Paste > As a new animation. In PSP, activate the middle layer. Edit > Copy. In AS, Edit > Paste > After current frame. In PSP, activate the bottom layer. Edit > Copy. In AS, Edit > Paste > After current frame. Edit > Select all. Animation > Frame properties > Display time > 20 > ok. View > Animation. Play with the frame timing if you wish and then save your tag. Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and have fun making Mini Tags!
