Poor Man's Marble Text This
tutorial was created and put on this site on March 30, 2004. For this tutorial
you will need: Open a new image: Select your text tool Set the foreground to null and the background to pattern with these settings: Click on your image and set your text. If you want to stretch your text you can do so by grabbing onto the various manipulation points on the bounding box. I have stretched mine to make it taller. Objects > Align > Center in canvas.
Selections > From vector object. In your layer palette right click on the vector layer and convert to raster. Adjust > Blur > Average > 7 > ok. Effects > Artistic effects >
Chrome > these settings: Effects > Artistic effects > Halftone > these settings: Adjust > Hue and Saturation > Colorize > Hue & Saturation 0 > ok.
In the layer palette right click on the working layer and duplicate. Adjust > Blur > Gaussian > 5 > ok. In the layer palette set the blend mode of the active layer to darken. In the layer palette right click on the working layer and duplicate. Effects > Texture effects > Fur > these settings: In the layer palette set the blend mode of the active layer to overlay. In the layer palette right click on the working layer and duplicate. Effects > Texture effects > Mosaic-Antique > these settings: In the layer palette set the blend mode of the active layer to overlay. Selections > Select none. In the layer palette right click on any of the layers and Merge Visible. Adjust > Hue and Saturation > Colorize > Hue & Saturation 0 > ok. Effects > 3D effects > Inner bevel > these settings:
That is it for the basic PM Marble Text, for the colored inset continue on.... Selections > Select all. Selections > Float. Selections > Defloat. In the layer palette right click on the working layer and duplicate. Selections > Contract > 8 > ok. Selections > invert. Edit > Clear. Selections > select none. Adjust > Hue and Saturation > Colorize > Hue 150, Saturation 30 > ok. In the layer palette right click on any of the layers and Merge Visible. Now your text is ready to use!
